Travel Advisory – The Purple Parade at Suntec City
Please note that during The Purple Parade, there will be a temporary road diversion at the Fountain of Wealth roundabout.
For detailed information on road access and public transport, please refer to the Travel Advisory to plan your visit smoothly.
About The Purple Parade
What is The Purple Parade Movement?
It is a ground-up movement spearheaded by various organisations from the People, Public and Private sectors, and facilitated by the Central Singapore Community Development Council (Central SG CDC) and The Purple Parade Limited (TPPL), with the support from various corporate, public and community partners.
What are the 5Cs in The Purple Parade
- Campaign: A publicity and call-to-action effort to drive awareness about The Purple Parade Movement through online and offline activities.
- Carnival: A specially curated ‘Eat. Play. Shop’ Marketplace that features quality products crafted by the disability community.
- Concert: A line up of inclusive performances to celebrate talents and abilities of the disability community and partners.
- Contingent: A parade of solidarity as partners from the People, Public and Private sectors, along with members of the public show their support for inclusion through a massive street parade march-past.
- Conversations: Dialogues/ conversations to foster a deeper understanding of the issues faced by the disability community.
Why is it important to have this movement?
To ensure PWDs receive equal access to all opportunities in life, such as education, employment, healthcare, housing, etc.
What’s the role of Central Singapore CDC?
- Central SG CDC has been supporting The Purple Parade Movement since 2013 as one of its cause-based programmes.
- Each year, Central SG CDC forms a Taskforce (comprising staff) to support the Organising Committee members to facilitate implementation of the different “Cs” and to bring in new partnerships.
- In 2019, Central SG CDC took on the role as Secretariat and Treasurer of The Purple Parade Movement.
General Information for The Purple Parade 2025
- 13th Anniversary
- The signature event will be held at Suntec City on 25 October 2025
Is there road closure? What time?
- Yes, there is road closure within Suntec City, specifically along Temasek Boulevard. More updates will be shared at a later date.
- Roads will gradually close from 11am
- Road closure will be lifted after 8pm
How do I get to the fun via Esplanade MRT?
After exiting Esplanade MRT station, enter Suntec Mall, head towards various activity spaces in Tower 5, Suntec Plaza, Fountain of Wealth and Tower 1 & 2.
How do I get to the fun via Promenade MRT?
After exiting Promenade MRT Station, enter Suntec City via Tower 4. Head towards Tower 2 via level 2 connecting walkway.
Campaigns
What is Campaign Activation?
Activations are interactive “pop-up” spaces to spread awareness of The Purple Parade Movement.
They can be activities organised to increase awareness amongst co-workers towards the disability community in Singapore and for colleagues to show their support towards Inclusion in different means.
How can my Organisation show their support for the movement?
We encourage partners to organise their own activations from October onwards. It could be activities such as:
- gathering co-workers to pen down their messages in support of Inclusion
- having a ‘Purple-Day’ where colleagues are encouraged to be in ‘purple’
- inviting colleagues to challenge embodying a ‘disability’ and perform a daily routine to understand the constraints and better recognise the need to make the workplace more accessible (eg. embodying ‘visual impairment’ and walking from desk to toilet)
Are there any available set-ups/display for loan?
These items are available for loan to support your Purple Activation:
- One purple table cloth
- One A1 poster mounted on foam board
- One poster stand
- Pull-up banners
These collaterals are available for loan to help create a strong visual impact during activation while demonstrating your organisation’s/school’s commitment to inclusion.
Carnival
What is ‘Carnival’?
A specially curated physical Marketplace that features quality products by the disability community.
The Carnival features:
- “EAT” booths – food & beverage offerings.
- “SHOP” booths – merchandise, crafts, and products, etc.
- “PLAY” booths – activities and games, etc.
Where will all the money from the sales/parade go to?
All proceeds from The Purple Parade carnival and merchandise sales will be channelled to the “Share of Gift” (SOG) fund. This fund will be distributed equally among Social Service Agencies that participate in at least one of the “C” initiatives at The Purple Parade 2025.
Can my organisation have a Carnival booth at The Purple Parade?
While we welcome interested parties to set up booths at the carnival, priority will be given to disability organisations to showcase their offerings. Due to limited booth space, we may not be able to accommodate all applications and appreciate your understanding.
Can we use cash/PayNow during the event day?
More details will be shared closer to the event date.
Are Carnival booth partners given PP T-Shirts?
TPP T-shirts are not provided to carnival booth partners. However, partners can either purchase official T-shirts through TPP website or wear their own purple attire to match the event theme.
Can I consign coupons to sell?
We do make arrangements for corporate organisations, public and community partners to consign a specific number of consignment coupons (only).
Are there halal stores?
More details will be shared closer to the event date.
Can I use the coupons after 25 Oct?
Unfortunately the coupons can only be used at the Carnival on 25 October 2025.
No refund is provided for unused coupons.
Where should I collect or return the coupon tin?
More details will be shared closer to the event date.
Would carnival be cancelled in the event of rain?
The indoor carnival will proceed as planned. In case of inclement weather, outdoor booths may be relocated to sheltered or indoor areas.
Concert
What is ‘Concert’?
A diverse lineup of performances to showcase the talents and abilities of performers from the disability community and our partners.
How are the groups selected?
All interested performing groups must go through an audition process. A selection panel will review submitted performance videos to determine the final lineup.
Why is my performance not selected?
We hope to provide opportunities and exposure to performances that could inspire other performing groups, be it from the disability sector or not, to see PP not only simply a platform for Inclusion, but a gathering of quality performances.
The music is too loud
For participants who are sensitive to loud music, we provide:
- Earmuffs and earplugs at the Help Desk
- Details of access to a Quiet Room will be shared closer to the event date
Would the concert be cancelled if there is a rain?
In case of inclement weather, some performances may be cancelled at the outdoor stage.
Contingent
What is a Contingent March?
A parade of solidarity as partners from the People, Public and Private sectors, along with members of the public show their support for inclusion through a massive street parade march-past.
How long is the walk?
From Fountain of Wealth to overhead bridge (turn) and then to Convention Centre
- Around 5 to 8 minutes depending on speed.
What is the minimum number of pax required for a Contingent Group?
Each Contingent should have a minimum of 20pax and a maximum of 100pax. For smaller groups, the organising committee will pair them up with other small groups to make the minimum number.
Is there a theme for the Contingent March?
While there is no set theme, participating organisations can design their own creative costumes and themes for the March.
Can my children/family take part in the March?
The March is open to participants of all ages, including children and families.
Are Contingent participants given PP T-Shirts?
Contingent participants will not given TPP T-shirts. Participants can purchase TPP’25 T-shirts via TPP Website or on on any purple attire if they wish to match the theme.
Can I wear my Corporate Tee for the Contingent March?
Yes, you may wear your corporate tee for the march. However, we highly encourage your outfit to have purple elements to it.
Can we use PP’s logo on our shirt?
You are allowed to use the PP logo on your shirt. However, do send in your design to the PP team for approval before you proceed to fabricate the apparel.
Do note that apparel featuring The Purple Parade logo cannot be sold commercially.
Can I join the Contingent March?
Contingent groups are sign-up groups from the different organisations.
Individuals or public can stand along the route to cheer on the groups.
What if it rains?
If it is a slight drizzle, participants will be provided ponchos and the March will continue.
If it is a heavy rain, Contingent march may be delayed slightly, but would still continue for groups who are keen to join in.
If it is a thunderstorm, the March will be cancelled.
Contingent groups: do I have to return the banner and placard?
Contingent groups can keep the banners and placards.
General
I’m pregnant! Can I come?
Pregnant women are welcome to attend the event. However, as we expect large crowds, we advise them to take necessary precautions and be mindful of their safety and comfort.
Are pets allowed for the event?
As this is a public event and to be considerate of participants from different religious backgrounds, we kindly request that attendees do not bring pets to the parade.
How will my organisation be recognised as part of The Purple Parade?
All partners who participated in any ‘C’ initiatives will be acknowledged through:
- A logo board displayed during the event
- Recognition on The Purple Parade website (to be updated closer to the event date)
How can I donate to the movement?
Please write in to Charmaine_Phua@pa.gov.sg or Tam_Ching_Yi@p.gov.sg. They will provide more information on the procedure.
Where is the volunteer booth?
More details will be shared closer to the event date.
Are volunteers given coupons?
Coupons for volunteers are dependent on the sponsorship or donation from different organisations.
Volunteers are given the PP T-shirt, event pass and lanyard.
The Purple Parade Pledge
We, the people of Singapore,
